Åžeref GÜL, PhD

Åžeref Gül completed his doctoral studies at Koç University in 2019. During his doctoral research, he focused on the discovery of innovative small molecules that regulate the circadian clock at the molecular level and have therapeutic potential in areas such as cancer, type 2 diabetes and aging. He continued his postdoctoral studies at Koç University and investigated the effects of circadian clock gene mutations on molecular mechanisms and obtained important findings on attention deficit, hyperactivity and sleep disorders.

Now, in his TÜBÄ°TAK and TÜSEB-supported projects, he understands the effects of circadian clock gene variants and their relationship with cancer types and investigates the areas of use of his own patented molecules. He was awarded the TÜBA-GEBÄ°P (Outstanding Young Scientist) and Sedat Simavi Science Award in 2023.
